A considered approach
A surface that earns its place every day.
Worktops shape both the appearance of a kitchen and the way you use it. Replacing a worn surface can refresh the room while retaining suitable units. Accurate measurement and attention to joins, edges and openings matter to the finish, as does choosing a material whose fitting requirements can be met.
Measurements that shape the finished fit
Runs, corners and wall edges need considering together, rather than measuring each length in isolation. A sketch and approximate dimensions help start the quotation. Final measurements, the fitting method and any templating must be agreed with the installer or fabricator before ordering.
Care at the joins, edges and cut-outs
The position of a join, the finish of an exposed edge and the openings for a sink or hob all affect the result. Share your appliance models, product instructions and any upstand or splashback details so these can be assessed for the chosen surface and fitting method.
A sound foundation for a new surface
Supporting cabinets need to be sound, level and suitable for the proposed worktop. When replacing an existing surface, the fitter also needs to assess removal, access and the effect on nearby tiles and fittings. These checks help establish whether the new surface can be fitted as intended.
Worth agreeing early
Find the right fitting approach for your surface.
Share the worktop material, thickness and manufacturer’s instructions before committing to a product. Different surfaces need different tools, handling and installation methods; some require a specialist fabricator and templating. Material capability and the proposed fitting route must be confirmed individually before work is agreed.
A little clarity
Good questions.
Helpful answers.
Some things are worth knowing
before you begin.
Can a worktop be replaced while keeping the units?
Potentially, if the units are sound, level and suitable for the proposed surface. Removal may affect tiles, sealants and plumbing connections, so the full scope needs checking.
Which worktop materials can be fitted?
Include the proposed product and material in your enquiry so suitability can be checked. Specific material capabilities have not been confirmed for publication. Stone, quartz, granite and other specialist fabrication or fitting are not advertised as in-house services and need separate assessment.
Can the sink or hob be reused?
This depends on its condition, cut-out requirements and compatibility with the replacement surface. Provide the model details and photographs, and agree who handles disconnection and reconnection.
Do I need final measurements before enquiring?
Approximate measurements and a sketch can help the initial discussion. Final ordering dimensions, site measurement and any templating responsibilities should be confirmed with the relevant installer or fabricator.
Are removal and appliance connections included?
Discuss removal and disposal of the existing worktop, along with sink, tap or hob disconnection and reconnection. These are separate responsibilities unless included in the quotation. Work requiring plumbing, electrical or gas qualifications must be arranged with appropriately qualified professionals.
What happens after I enquire about a worktop?
Enquiries are not open yet. Once collection begins, the intended quotation process is: Wivna Ltd reviews the information and may introduce an independent fitter. The fitter checks the product, supporting units and fitting requirements, then discusses any further measurements or specialist input needed before quoting. You agree the work directly with that professional.
